Split a restaurant bill by item

How to split a restaurant bill by item with the ReceiptSplit iPhone app: scan or pick a photo of the receipt, add the people, tap who had each dish, and add a tip that is shared in proportion to what each person ordered. Tax and discounts are shared the same way.

1. Pick or scan the receipt
2. Add the people
3. Choose Detailed, then By Item
4. Tap who had each dish
5. Add the tip and check each total

Enter a receipt by hand

How to enter a receipt by hand with the ReceiptSplit iPhone app, with no scan: type the store name, each item with its price, then tax and tip, and tap Create. The example is a sample receipt with three items, $2.80 tax and a $6 tip.

1. Manual Entry, then the store name
2. Name, price, then plus for next item
3. Add tax and tip
4. Tap Create

The three split modes

The three ways to split a bill in the ReceiptSplit iPhone app: No split (the whole bill is yours), Equal (the same share for everyone) and Detailed (you choose who had each item). The example is a small restaurant bill with two people.

1. No split = the whole bill is yours
2. Equal = the same share for everyone
3. Detailed = you choose who had what
4. Tap a person to take them off an item
5. Changing mode asks first
6. Done = Chad owes $13

Tax, a discount and fees

How to add tax, a discount and extra fees (service or delivery fee) to a receipt in the ReceiptSplit iPhone app. The example is a two-item receipt with $2.40 tax, a $3 discount and a $2.50 service fee, for a total of $31.90.

1. Tax, Tip and Fees section
2. Tax = $2.40
3. Discount = $3
4. Add Fee = Service fee $2.50
